Welcome to the California of Europe.
The area known as the Costa del Sol stretches along 150km of Málaga province and is Spain's most popular tourist destinations, Fabulous beaches and cool clear waters, top restaurants, nightclubs,shops and hotels compliment the more traditional white villages, beech bars, local markets and small family hostels. The area's mild warm climate means that you can enjoy the regions beaches, outdoor dining and a variety of outdoor activities,pretty much all year round.The regions beaches range from quiet coves to trendy stretches with fashionable beach clubs popular with international celebrities and the rich and famous from all over the world.
One of the most popular pastimes on the Costa del Sol is golf and there are more than 50 golf courses in the region, with stunning beach,mountain and clifftop locations and spectacular views over the area’s landscapes down to the sea.
The Costa de Sol is divided into two sections, centering on the city of Malaga. The eastern Costa stretches from Malaga to Nerja, (after that the coastal area is known asthe Costa Tropical in Granada province.
To the west of Malaga the coast curves round southwards towards Gibraltar, and includes all the major resorts such as starting with the main gay area of southern Spain Torremolinos, (Check out the gay guide to Torremolinos section ) ,Benalmadena,Fuengirola, El Faro, Calahonda, the world famous Marbella and Puerto Banus. This section has a very international ambiance , with visitors and residents from all over the world.
